ZEPHANIAH:1:14: The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
Zep:1:15: That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness.
How dark, gloomy it was, filled with thick clouds of thick darkness...people wake up...God is not pleased!!
Zep:1:16: A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers,
All the alarms sounded that day. The City thought she was protected, isolated Manhatten with her high towers...but God saw your defiance against Him...He saw who your God was...MONEY...money is who you worship, money is who you look to in time of need...not God your Creator!!
Zep:1:17: And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
Yes they walked as blind men, so full of dust, asbestos and debri...all asking..."where is my God now"???Their blood was poured out as dust and their flesh was smashed in the streets like dung. Do you think God wanted this to happen? No, a thousand times no. He is a merciful God. How long He waited for the human heart to cry unto Him and come back to Him. How long He waited for the souls that turned their backs on Him. How long? Only God knows...then the time came, when the enemy attacked, their protection walls were down, and God left them to their own defences.
Zep:1:18: Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
Thank God, not all died at the WTC, some were saved. Some had praying Mom's and Dad's. Some were praying themselves. All who cried out to God...He heard their cries. His heart is full of mercy and love. He did not want this to happen...it was an outcome of sin...pure and simple..."We reap what we sow"!!
When we sin, and leave God out of our lives, the enemy of our soul is free to attack...our defences are down, and he has a "hay day" with destruction and misery. Why? Is God unfair, is He unjust? No, on the contrary, He is so fair and just that we reap what we sow. If we sow to Him, give our soul to Him, He blesses us exceedingly abundantly above all we can even ask or think. We are so blessed when God is Lord of our lives.
God is a master designer that can only perform that which is good. The enemy of our soul can only do that which is evil and corrupt. When a people, city or Nation, refuses to put God first and actually demands that He leave them alone, then destruction comes.
They have succeeded in getting rid of Bible reading out of our Schools, even preaching in the local parks is now forbidden. Soon, no one will be able to do Christian Broadcasting, or witnessing, etc. Soon, they will throw us in jail for being a Christian...and then we ask God...why...is our land punished?
When people turn their backs on God, and give themselves over to the sins of the flesh, they automatically reap corruption. New York City is known all over the world for its corruption, violent crimes, sins so black and ugly that even the angels of heaven tremble at their deeds.
Vampire clubs that actually suck the blood of their victims, get their eye teeth shaved to sharp knifes. It is so diabolical what is done in the streets of New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, that my pen cannot describe the atrocities. Suffice it to say that God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man sows that shall he reap. Punishment follows sin!!
When the world trade center opened every morning, people had one thing on their minds...to make money.
MONEY WAS THEIR GOD!
All their silver and their gold cannot help them now...verse 18.
Canada, United States, Israel and many others, are suffering today because of their rebellion against God. God wants to help us! God wants to reach down and lift us up from the pain and destruction. He is waiting for us to call out to Him. He is our God...He loves us so much. What will it take for His people to go back to Holiness?
Zephaniah3:5: The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.
Zep:3:6: I have cut off the nations: their towers are desolate; I made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.
Zep:3:7: I said, Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off, howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.
Zep:3:8: Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.
Zep:3:9: For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.
The innocent die with the guilty, so sad about that. But that is history.
The only way we can reverse God's anger is to repent as a Nation. Otherwise our whole Nation will receive His punishment.
We cannot keep turning our backs on God as a Nation and then expect His blessings. Blessings come from obedience and following His laws and precepts. Again...we reap what we sow!
